Our laminate ranges, thinnest to thickest
The basics
What Is Laminate Flooring?
Laminate flooring is a layered board. A printed image of timber, or stone, sits under a tough clear wear layer, and the whole thing is bonded to a fibreboard core. You’ll also hear it called laminated flooring, laminate floorboards, laminate wood flooring or timber laminate flooring. They all mean the same thing.
It’s popular because it gives you the look of timber at a much lower price, and it’s simple to live with. Most laminate flooring in Sydney homes goes into bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and rentals. The one thing to remember is water: laminate doesn’t like it standing around. For wetter rooms, hybrid flooring is usually a better choice.
Our ranges
Laminate Flooring Colours & Styles
As laminate flooring suppliers, we’ve set out our ranges from the thinnest (8mm) to the thickest (12mm). Thicker isn’t automatically better. A slimmer board keeps the floor height down, while a 12mm board generally feels more solid underfoot. Each range has its own colours, and you can browse them on the range pages.
| Range | Thickness | Look | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hydrocore 8mm | 8mm | Eight timber looks, dark to light | Kitchens, living areas and renovations |
| MTF 12mm | 12mm | Warm, medium oak | Living areas and open-plan rooms |
| TimberFlow 12mm | 12mm | Pale, blonde timber | Light, airy living rooms and bedrooms |
| AquaGlow 12mm | 12mm | Cool grey-brown timber | Modern kitchens and open-plan living |
Plank sizes, wear ratings and warranties vary by range and colour. Ask us for the full specification of the one you like.
Hydrocore 8mm Laminate Flooring
Our slimmest laminate, with extra moisture protection.
Hydrocore is the slimmest laminate range we have, at 8mm, with planks of 1510 x 195mm. That makes it the one to look at if you’re trying to keep the floor height down, or you’re replacing an old floor and the new one needs to sit at a similar level.
It’s rated AC4, a high wear rating, and the manufacturer rates it for up to 72 hours of protection from moisture exposure, which helps with spills and mopping in busy kitchens and living areas. It’s still a laminate, so keep it away from standing water, and we don’t recommend it for bathrooms. It comes in eight timber looks, from dark espresso tones to soft golden shades.
- 8mm, our slimmest laminate
- AC4 wear rating
- Up to 72 hours of moisture protection
MTF 12mm Laminate Flooring
Warm oak, with a solid 12mm feel.
MTF is a 12mm laminate in a warm, medium oak with plenty of natural variation in the grain. A 12mm board generally feels more solid underfoot than a slimmer one, and it tends to sound less hollow when you walk across it.
It’s a good match for living areas and open-plan rooms where you want a warm, traditional timber look. A thicker floor adds height, so check the clearance under doors and appliances. We’ll measure up and talk it through with you.
- 12mm thickness for a solid, substantial feel
- Warm oak tone with natural grain variation
- Easy to keep clean
TimberFlow 12mm Laminate Flooring
Pale, blonde timber that brightens a room.
TimberFlow is a 12mm laminate in a pale, blonde timber. It’s a light, soft colour that makes a room feel bigger and brighter, and it suits light, airy interiors.
A very light floor is a big colour decision, so we suggest looking at a sample in your own light, next to your walls and furniture. The 12mm thickness gives it a solid feel underfoot, and the surface is easy to keep clean.
- 12mm thickness
- Pale, blonde timber look
- Makes rooms feel brighter and more open
AquaGlow 12mm Laminate Flooring
A cool taupe-grey for modern spaces.
AquaGlow is a 12mm laminate in a cool, grey-brown timber tone with a fine, straight grain. It’s the most contemporary look in our laminate range, and it sits well with modern kitchens and open-plan living, as the photo shows.
Some laminate has better moisture resistance than others, so ask us for the specification of this range before you use it near a sink, dishwasher or laundry. Laminate generally doesn’t like standing water, whichever range you choose.
- 12mm thickness
- Cool grey-brown timber tone
- A contemporary look for modern homes
Why people choose it
Benefits of Laminate Flooring
Laminate has stayed popular for good reasons. These are the ones we hear about most.
The timber look, affordably
Laminate gives you the look of timber (or stone) without the price of the real thing, which is why it’s such a popular choice for homes and rentals.
A hard-wearing surface
The clear wear layer stands up to scuffs and everyday scratches. Look at the AC rating when you compare ranges. A higher number means the surface is built for more wear.
Easy to keep clean
Sweep or vacuum, then use a barely damp mop. There’s no sanding, oiling or polishing.
Quick, tidy installation
Laminate is usually installed as a floating floor, with the boards clicking together, so the job is relatively quick and clean.
Plenty of colours and looks
From pale blonde to warm oak and cool grey-browns, there’s a laminate floor to suit most styles.
Good for renovations and rentals
Slimmer ranges keep the floor height down, and the tough surface suits busy rental properties.
Laminate or hybrid?
Laminate vs Hybrid Flooring
Both give you the timber look, so it’s a common question. The big difference is water. If the room might get wet, choose hybrid. If it’s dry and you want to keep the cost down, laminate is a fair call.
| Compare | Laminate flooring | Hybrid flooring |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Fibreboard core under a tough, printed surface | Rigid core made to cope with moisture |
| Water | Doesn’t like standing water, so best in dry rooms | Water-resistant, and some ranges are sold as waterproof |
| Underfoot | Firm and hard | Comfortable and a little quieter |
| Best rooms | Bedrooms, living areas, hallways, rentals | Kitchens, laundries, open-plan and family homes |
| Cost | Usually costs less | Usually costs more |
| Looks | Timber, stone and concrete looks | Timber and stone looks |

How it works
Laminate Flooring Installation in Sydney
Laminate flooring installation is quicker than many floors because the boards click together. Quick doesn’t mean careless. The result depends on the preparation, and that’s where we spend our time. We install laminate flooring across Sydney, and you can see where on our service areas page. Find out more about our floor installation service.
We check your subfloor
Laminate needs a flat, dry, sound surface. We look at what’s under your current floor before we quote.
We prepare the surface
That might mean removing the old floor, levelling, or laying an underlay. We’ll tell you what’s needed before we start.
We lay your laminate
Boards click together as a floating floor. We leave a small gap at the walls so the floor can move, then cut neatly around doors and edges.
We finish the details
Skirting, trims and door transitions are fitted so the floor meets the rest of the house cleanly.

Laminate Flooring Prices & Cost
People often ask for laminate flooring prices per square metre. The honest answer is that it depends, because ranges differ and so does the work involved. If you’re after affordable laminate flooring in Sydney, tell us your budget at the start and we’ll work with it. The cheapest board isn’t always the cheapest floor once preparation and installation are added. Send us your suburb, room sizes and a few photos, and we’ll quote your job.
The range and thickness
Our laminate ranges run from 8mm to 12mm. Slimmer boards often cost less than thicker ones, but the board is only part of the price.
The size of the job
There’s no single price per square metre for laminate flooring. More floor area means more material and time.
What’s under the floor now
Removing an old floor, levelling or repairing the subfloor is part of the job and affects the cost.
Access and layout
Stairs, apartments, furniture and awkward room shapes change how the work is planned.
Underlay and trims
Underlay, skirting and door transitions are quoted along with the floor.
Timing
Tell us when you want it done, and we’ll plan around your schedule.

Questions we get asked
Laminate Flooring FAQs
What is laminate flooring?
Laminate flooring is a layered board. A printed image of timber (or stone) sits under a tough clear wear layer, bonded to a fibreboard core. You might also see it called laminated flooring, laminate floorboards or laminate wood flooring.
Is laminate flooring waterproof?
Not usually. Laminate generally doesn’t like standing water, because moisture can get into the fibreboard core and make it swell. Some ranges resist moisture better than others, so ask us for the specification of the range you like and tell us which room it’s for.
Can laminate flooring be used in kitchens?
Often yes, with care. Wipe up spills quickly and check the specification for the range you choose. Laminate isn’t suited to bathrooms and laundries. For those rooms, hybrid or vinyl plank is usually a better choice.
How thick should laminate flooring be?
Our laminate ranges run from 8mm to 12mm. A slimmer board keeps the floor height down, which helps in renovations. A 12mm board generally feels more solid underfoot and tends to sound less hollow. We can help you choose for your rooms.
Laminate or hybrid: which is better?
Hybrid copes better with water, so it’s the safer choice for kitchens and laundries. Laminate usually costs less and still looks good in dry rooms. If the room is dry and the budget is tight, laminate is a fair call. If there’s any chance of moisture, go hybrid.
How do I clean laminate flooring?
Sweep or vacuum regularly and clean with a barely damp mop. Wipe up spills promptly, and avoid soaking the floor. Follow the care instructions for your range.
Do you install laminate flooring in Sydney?
Yes. We supply and install laminate flooring across Sydney, NSW. Tell us your suburb and we’ll confirm we can get to you.
Can laminate flooring go over my existing floor?
Sometimes. It depends on what’s there, what condition it’s in and which range you choose. We check the subfloor first, because new flooring over an uneven or damp surface won’t last.
