Hybrid Flooring in Sydney – Supplied & Installed
We supply and install hybrid flooring across Sydney, in a choice of ranges from 6mm to 9.5mm. Hybrid floors are tough, comfortable and easier to live with than most timber-look floors, which is why they suit kitchens, laundries and busy family homes. Pick a range below, or tell us about your rooms and we’ll call you to talk it through.
Our hybrid ranges, thinnest to thickest
The basics
What Is Hybrid Flooring?
Hybrid flooring is a rigid plank with a wood-look surface. Think of it as a cross between laminate and vinyl. The planks click together, sit flat and don’t have the fibreboard core that makes laminate nervous around water. You’ll also hear it called hybrid floorboards, hybrid wood flooring or hybrid laminate flooring. They all mean much the same thing.
The result is a floor that looks like timber, cleans easily and is comfortable to live on. Most hybrid flooring in Sydney homes goes into kitchens, laundries, open-plan living areas and family rooms, where a floor takes a beating. The main differences between ranges are thickness, colour and format, and that’s how we’ve organised the ranges below.
Our ranges
Hybrid Flooring Colours & Styles
As hybrid flooring suppliers, we’ve set out our ranges from the thinnest (6mm) to the thickest (9.5mm). Thicker isn’t automatically better. A slimmer board keeps the floor height down, while a thicker one generally feels more solid underfoot. Each range has its own colours, and you can browse them on the range pages.
| Range | Thickness | Look | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elite 6.0 | 6mm | Rustic timber look | Renovations and apartments where floor height matters |
| Urban 6.5 | 6.5mm | Grey-toned oak look | Modern kitchens and open-plan living |
| Guardian 6.5mm | 6.5mm | Deep blue-grey, weathered timber look | Feature bedrooms and modern apartments |
| Herringbone 7.0 | 7mm | Herringbone pattern | Feature rooms, hallways and living areas |
| Grande 7.5 | 7.5mm | Natural oak look | Family homes and everyday living areas |
| XXL 8.0 | 8mm | Dark timber tones | Large rooms and open-plan living |
| Duro Opulence 8mm | 8mm | Pale, almost white-washed oak | Bright bedrooms and living areas |
| Grande 9.0 | 9mm | Light, natural oak look | Large living spaces and open-plan homes |
| Obsidian 9mm | 9mm | Warm timber, herringbone pattern | Feature living rooms and open-plan spaces |
| Duro Plus 9.5mm | 9.5mm | Mixed-tone, reclaimed-style timber | Large living areas and family homes |
Plank sizes, wear layers and warranties vary by range and colour. Ask us for the full specification of the one you like.
Elite 6.0: 6mm Hybrid Flooring
The slimmest hybrid flooring in our range.
Elite 6.0 is the slimmest of our hybrid ranges at 6mm. That matters more than you’d think. In a renovation or an apartment, a thick floor can mean doors that no longer clear, a step at the kitchen or a dishwasher that won’t slide back in. A slimmer hybrid floorboard keeps the height down.
The Elite 6.0 colours have a rustic timber look with plenty of grain and character. If you want hybrid flooring without adding much height, start here. Browse the colours on the range page, and ask us for the plank size and warranty details for the colour you like.
- 6mm thickness keeps floor height down
- Rustic timber looks with real character
- A sensible starting point for renovations and apartments
Urban 6.5: 6.5mm Hybrid Flooring
A cooler, more contemporary look.
Urban 6.5 is a touch thicker than Elite at 6.5mm, and it has a more contemporary feel. The colours lean towards cooler, grey-toned oak looks that sit well with white cabinets, black fittings and modern open-plan rooms.
Like the other hybrid floors in our range, it suits kitchens and living areas where you want a floor that’s easy to clean and comfortable to walk on. Have a look through the Urban 6.5 colours, and bring a cabinet or paint sample if you’re matching a colour scheme.
- 6.5mm thickness, still a slim profile
- Cooler, grey-toned oak looks
- Easy to clean and comfortable underfoot
Guardian 6.5mm Hybrid Flooring
A bold, cool blue-grey statement floor.
Guardian is a 6.5mm range with one of the boldest looks in our hybrid flooring: a deep, cool blue-grey with a weathered timber grain. It’s the same slim thickness as Urban 6.5, so it keeps floor height down in renovations and apartments, but the colour is a lot more dramatic.
A colour like this works best when it’s the star of the room, with white or soft neutral walls around it. The photo shows it in a bedroom and bathroom suite. If you’re thinking about a wet area, ask us about the product spec and your subfloor first.
- 6.5mm thickness keeps the floor slim
- Deep blue-grey with a weathered timber grain
- Works best as a feature, with calm walls around it
Herringbone 7.0: 7mm Hybrid Flooring
Hybrid flooring laid in a herringbone pattern.
Herringbone 7.0 is a 7mm hybrid range laid in a herringbone pattern. Instead of straight rows, the boards form a zigzag, which gives a room a lot of character without needing real timber and the upkeep that comes with it.
The pattern takes more time and care to lay than straight boards. There’s more cutting at the edges and more material to allow for, so we plan the layout before we start. It works well in a bedroom, hallway or living area where you want the floor to be a feature.
- 7mm thickness
- A classic herringbone layout in a hybrid floor
- Careful setting out so the pattern runs true
Grande 7.5: 7.5mm Hybrid Flooring
A middle thickness with a natural look.
Grande 7.5 sits in the middle of our hybrid flooring range at 7.5mm. It’s slimmer than the 8mm and 9mm ranges, but it has a more substantial feel than the 6mm ones. The colours are natural, warm oak looks that suit most homes.
If you’re not sure how thick you need, this is a good range to look at first. It’s a practical choice for family living areas, hallways and bedrooms, and we can compare it with the thinner and thicker ranges side by side.
- 7.5mm thickness, between slim and thick
- Warm, natural oak looks
- A good all-round hybrid floorboard for family homes
XXL 8.0: 8mm Hybrid Flooring
A thicker floor with deeper tones.
XXL 8.0 is an 8mm hybrid range, and it’s where you’ll find some of our deeper, darker timber tones. Dark floors make a strong statement, and they work best in rooms with good light and plenty of space.
A thicker hybrid plank generally feels more solid underfoot, which is a plus in larger living areas. Because dark floors show dust and marks more readily, ask us about care and cleaning for the colour you choose. Check the plank size and specification for XXL 8.0 on the range page or when we talk.
- 8mm thickness, a more substantial feel
- Deep, dark timber tones
- Best in larger rooms with good light
Duro Opulence 8mm Hybrid Flooring
Pale, bright oak that opens a room up.
Duro Opulence is an 8mm range in a very pale, almost white-washed oak. It’s one of the lightest colours in our hybrid flooring, and it makes a room feel open and bright. The soft, straight grain keeps the look calm.
At 8mm it has a more substantial feel than our slimmer ranges, and it suits bedrooms and living areas that get plenty of natural light. A very light floor is a big colour decision, so ask how it will look next to your walls, furniture and kitchen before you commit.
- 8mm thickness, a substantial feel
- Pale, almost white-washed oak
- Makes a room feel open and bright
Grande 9.0: 9mm Hybrid Flooring
A thick, solid-feeling floor in light oak.
Grande 9.0 is a 9mm hybrid range. If you’re looking for 9mm hybrid flooring in Sydney, Grande 9.0 and Obsidian are the two to compare. A thicker board generally gives a more solid, substantial feel underfoot, which suits big open-plan living areas.
The colours are light, natural oak looks that make a room feel open and bright. Remember that a thicker floor adds more height, so check the clearance under doors and appliances. We’ll measure up and talk through it with you.
- 9mm thickness for a substantial feel
- Light, natural oak looks
- Suits big, open-plan living spaces
Obsidian 9mm Hybrid Flooring
Hybrid flooring in a herringbone pattern, at 9mm.
Obsidian is a 9mm range shown laid in a herringbone pattern, in warm, natural timber tones. If you like the idea of a herringbone floor but want the toughness of hybrid, this is a good place to look. It’s the thicker alternative to Herringbone 7.0.
As with any herringbone floor, the pattern takes more time and care to lay, so we plan the layout before we start and allow for extra cutting. It works well as a feature in a living room, hallway or open-plan space.
- 9mm thickness
- Herringbone layout in warm timber tones
- Careful setting out so the pattern runs true
Duro Plus 9.5mm Hybrid Flooring
Our thickest hybrid flooring.
Duro Plus is our thickest hybrid flooring at 9.5mm. The look is a mixed-tone, reclaimed-style timber, with a lot of colour variation from board to board, so the floor feels lived-in and natural from day one.
A thicker board generally feels more solid underfoot, which suits large living areas. The colour variation can also help hide everyday marks. As with any thick floor, check the height against doors and appliances, and we’ll measure up with you.
- 9.5mm thickness, the thickest in our range
- Mixed-tone, reclaimed-style timber look
- Suits large living areas and family homes
Why people choose it
Benefits of Hybrid Flooring
Hybrid flooring has taken off for good reasons. These are the ones we hear about most.
Handles moisture better
A rigid core copes with humidity and spills better than the fibreboard core in laminate. Most ranges are water-resistant, so check the spec for the one you choose.
Stays flat and stable
Hybrid planks are rigid, so they sit flat and cope with small imperfections in the subfloor better than thin, flexible floors.
Comfortable and quiet
It’s comfortable to walk on and a little quieter than hard flooring, which is welcome in open-plan homes and upstairs rooms.
Easy to look after
Sweep or vacuum, then use a damp mop. Follow the manufacturer’s care instructions for the range you choose.
Suits family homes
Kids, pets and busy kitchens are what hybrid floors are made for. They’re a practical choice for rooms that get a lot of use.
Plenty of looks
From rustic and natural oak to grey tones, dark timber and herringbone, you can get the look of timber without the upkeep.
Hybrid or laminate?
Hybrid Flooring vs Laminate
Both give you the timber look, so it’s a common question. The big difference is water. If the room might get wet, choose hybrid. If it’s dry and you want to keep the cost down, laminate is a fair call.
| Compare | Hybrid flooring | Laminate flooring |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Rigid core made to cope with moisture | Fibreboard core that can swell if it gets wet |
| Water | Water-resistant, and some ranges are sold as waterproof | Doesn’t like standing water |
| Underfoot | Comfortable and a little quieter | Firm and hard |
| Best rooms | Kitchens, laundries, open-plan and family homes | Dry rooms: bedrooms, living areas, hallways |
| Cost | Usually costs more | Usually costs less |
| Looks | Timber and stone looks | Timber, stone and concrete looks |

How it works
Hybrid Flooring Installation in Sydney
Hybrid flooring installation is quicker than many floors because the planks click together. Quicker doesn’t mean careless. The result depends on the preparation, and that’s where we spend our time. We install hybrid flooring across Sydney, and you can see where on our service areas page. Find out more about our floor installation service.
We check your subfloor
We look at what’s under your current floor. A flat, sound, dry subfloor is the key to a good result.
We prepare the surface
That might mean removing the old floor, levelling or repairing the surface. We’ll tell you what’s needed before we start.
We lay your hybrid floor
Hybrid flooring is usually installed as a floating floor, with the planks clicking together. We cut carefully around doorways and edges.
We finish the details
Trims, skirting and transitions are fitted so the floor meets the rest of the house cleanly.
Your quote
Hybrid Flooring Cost
People often ask for a hybrid flooring cost per square metre. The honest answer is that it depends, because ranges differ and so does the work involved. These are the things that shape your quote. Send us your suburb, room sizes and a few photos, and we’ll quote your job.
The range and thickness
Our hybrid ranges run from 6mm to 9.5mm, and the colours and format differ between them. The herringbone ranges also take more time to lay.
The size of the job
There’s no single price per square metre for hybrid flooring. The more floor area, the more material and time, though larger jobs can be more efficient.
What’s under the floor now
Removing an old floor, levelling or repairing the subfloor is part of the job and affects the cost.
Access and layout
Stairs, apartments, furniture and awkward room shapes all change how the work is planned.
Trims and finishing
Skirting, door transitions and stair nosings are quoted along with the floor.

Tell us when you want it done, and we’ll plan around your schedule.

Questions we get asked
Hybrid Flooring FAQs
What is hybrid flooring?
Hybrid flooring is a rigid plank with a wood-look surface, a bit like laminate and vinyl combined. The planks click together, sit flat and handle moisture better than laminate. It’s sometimes called hybrid floorboards, hybrid wood flooring or hybrid laminate flooring.
What thickness of hybrid flooring should I choose?
It depends on the room and the floor height you can afford. Our ranges run from 6mm to 9.5mm. Thinner boards keep the floor height down, which helps in renovations and apartments. Thicker boards generally feel more solid underfoot. Tell us about your rooms and we’ll recommend a range.
Is hybrid flooring waterproof?
Hybrid flooring is usually water-resistant, and some ranges are sold as waterproof. That normally describes the plank itself. The edges, the gap at the walls and the subfloor still matter, so ask us about the range and the room you have in mind.
Can hybrid flooring be used in kitchens and laundries?
Yes, it’s a popular choice for both because it copes with spills and humidity better than laminate. We check the product specification and your subfloor first.
What’s the difference between hybrid flooring and laminate?
Hybrid flooring has a rigid core and is more water-resistant, so it suits wetter rooms. Laminate has a fibreboard core, usually costs less and belongs in dry rooms. We stock both, so we can compare them for you.
Can hybrid flooring go over my existing floor?
Sometimes. It depends on what’s there, what condition it’s in and which range you choose. We check the subfloor first, because new flooring over an uneven or damp surface won’t last.
Do you install hybrid flooring in Sydney?
Yes. We supply and install hybrid flooring across Sydney, NSW. Tell us your suburb and we’ll confirm we can get to you.
How do I look after hybrid flooring?
Sweep or vacuum regularly and clean with a damp mop. Wipe up spills promptly and follow the care instructions for your range. Ask us for the details when you choose.
